Public Service Announcements were produced by EPIC NYS PIRC and are running on Public TV stations across New York State in 2009. The PSAs highlight two families who are dedicated to being involved in their children's education at home and in the community. Parents are a child's first teacher! We invite all parents to be an important part of their child's success in school and life! Click here to view the PSA.

"On the Same Page" Summit Highlights
A Summit for Family Engagement in Education

The First Annual “On The Same Page Summit” for Family Engagement in Education was a smashing success with over 100 top educational and parent involvement leaders from across New York in attendance on October 6 & 7 in Albany. The Summit was highlighted by honorary chair, Chancellor Robert Bennett, New York State Board of Regents, and keynote speakers, Dr. Karen Mapp, Harvard Graduate School of Education and Dr. Heather Weiss, Director of Harvard Family Research Project. Panelists included Roland Warren, CEO, National Fatherhood Initiative, Byron Garrett, CEO, National PTA, Anthony Colón, President, AJ Colón Consulting, LLC, John Sipple, Associate Professor, Cornell University, Department of Education, and Leslie Warren, Deputy Director, New York State Office for the Aging.

The Summit brought together influential leaders to support systemic change in the NYS Educational System through strategic dialogue and action on family involvement as a catalyst for closing the achievement gap in Title I schools.
