Research shows that the early years of life are very important for future learning. These early years provide the foundation for success in school and in life.
As children grow and change, parents remain the most important influence on their
children's development.
FACTS uses the nationally recognized Parents as Teachers (PAT) curriculum to support parents during the critical time from birth to age five.

What is Parents as Teachers?
PAT is a home visiting program for families who have children from birth to five. Parents receive information on:
- Healthy child growth and development
- Promoting literacy and language
- Helping children prepare for school
- Meeting personal goals
Family educators come directly to a family's home to provide information, support, and fun activities parents can do with children to support their development.
The program also offers regular developmental screenings, as well as monthly group events and field trips.

Who is eligible?
Any family in Jefferson County who has a child from birth to five can enroll in the program. Participation is voluntary and families can continue in the program until their child turns six.
FACTS welcomes referrals from community agencies and professionals who work with families.
